Best Basketball Teams in Wisconsin Badgers History

Wisconsin basketball is a really interesting thing because they were not something that people thought of at all really until Bo Ryan turned up. Even on the free college basketball picks page at BetFirm, handicappers didn’t even really dive into their games.  There was a time when a lot of people would forget that Wisconsin even had a basketball team, but that all changed when Bo Ryan stopped winning conference titles at UW-Milwaukee to come to Madison. He created a juggernaut that has even continued after his retirement. That is a very important thing to remember because he is one of the best coaches in the history of college basketball, and he created all the best Wisconsin basketball teams on his own.

The 2002-2003 team was the first one where Bo Ryan had the big success that everyone was expecting, and they were able to win and outright conference title for the first time in what seemed like forever. At the time it had been 56 years since they had done that, and that was something that completely changed the face of what Wisconsin basketball was. They were the team that now had to be reckoned with, and every team was going to have to bring their A game if they wanted to beat this team. It was not a team that had all this talent that you would be afraid of, but it was a team that was going to fight you right to the bitter end. That was not only a very good thing to see, but it set up the run of success that the team had that led them to going to two straight final fours in the near future.

The teams that played from 2013-2015 where featuring Frank Kaminsky, and they went to back to back final fours wit these two teams. Frank Kiaminsky became a lottery pick, and the team was lauded for being the team that did not have the talent advantage but played their brand of basketball. There were still a lot of people who did not know who Bo Ryan was, and they were only just hearing about all the things that he had done when he won all his titles at UW-Milwaukee. This was very important because it was something that meant that the team was now going to have even more exposure than it already had. It also meant that they were going to be on the minds of the people who were already watching basketball. Wisconsin became a much bigger deal. They were not just the team that was pretty good, but they were the team that was a contender for a title. Sadly, they lost the national semifinal in 2014, and then they were just on the cusp of being a contender. Everyone was watching them, and they were wondering if this scrappy team would be able to go even farther and maybe win a national title.

The next season was a very easy one for Wisconsin because they were going to go right to the Final Four, and they were destined to be great. Everyone had them as the sexy pick for the national title, and it was obvious that this team was going to be the one that people would want to see win. They had all the money on them, but they lost the national title to Duke. This is still probably the best team in school history because of all that it did with all the talent around it. They were not the traditional power, but they did amazing things.

Wisconsin basketball has been something that people are going to wonder if they can return to prominence. They are a great team with a great history, and anyone who has been able to watch them in the Bo Ryan era has been very lucky. Someone who started with a very small school winning four national titles in division III and coming up to the Big Ten to dominate in the way he did deserves a lot of praise. He created every good team in school history save a couple long ago, but it is something that people now expect. The culture changed with these great teams, and it makes people want to watch Wisconsin basketball to see what they will do next.

Wisconsin Badgers in the NFL

The Wisconsin Badgers football team has been the supplier of some of the best football players in the NFL. Names like J.J Watt and Russell Wilson are on the tip of peoples tongues every season and this year is no different. There are some players that are in the NFL that their starting job is not as secure as those of Wilson and Watt. The Badgers now have 32 former players in the NFL, and plenty more have been greats for their teams in the past. It is apparent that Wisconsin has produced a large number of players that will take to the field and be part of a large number of highlight reels in the coming season. Here are a few of those that are looking to stand out this year.  These guys have helped us win plenty of free college football picks against the spread, but can they do the same for us in the NFL?

J.J Watt: What can be said about J.J Watt that has not already been said, this man is a walking highlight reel and a player that has started 64 games in a row. That streak does not appear to be ending anytime soon, as this coming season he is in the best shape of his career and healthier than in seasons past. Barring an unforeseen accident, it is a sure bet that J.J Watt will be getting an MVP trophy at the end of the season if not a Super Bowl ring. The Houston Texans are seeking to carry their team on Watts shoulders and hope that he will be able to handle the weight.

Russel Wilson: The Seattle Seahawks quarterback is starting another season for his favorite team and hopes to recover from that last second interception that still haunts him, in the fact it cost him, and his team the Super Bowl a couple of years back. Wilson will have some competition for his starting job this season, but he should still be a lock to be the go to guy for the Seahawks. Look for him to set the field on fire with a large number of big plays to any of his favorite targets.

Joe Thomas: The Cleveland Browns have a certain gift with Joe Thomas in eight seasons, he has been selected for the Pro Bowl eight times and has not missed a single snap. This equates to 7,917 snaps that have not been missed. The left tackle looks to improve on his stats this season and hopes to make it nine seasons and nine Pro Bowl selections. While the Browns team as a unit still needs some work, Joe Thomas will be doing his part to help the team get a better record than last seasons. The opposition will be in for a tough season as Joe Thomas will be on the opposition looking to make a big impact with a tackle.

Montee Ball: Montee Ball who last season had to watch his team play while sitting on the bench due to injury, looks to get back on the field and show that he has not missed a single step while recovering. Ball made a lot of waves as a Badger and in the NFL his progress has not been hindered at all. While he has been a free agent, he is sure to be added to any roster and will be in their starting position as he still has plenty of highlights to give any team that he plays for.

John Moffitt: What other player can retire from, the NFL, come back and have an even better season than he did when he first played? The answer to this question is simple, John Moffitt is the player that walked away, came back after a couple of years away and has been stronger and better than ever before. This season he is looking to make some serious waves in the NFL and could actually be a contender to win an MVP award for his efforts.

These are a few of the former Wisconsin Badgers that will be making some serious headlined and will be getting some serious stats for their team this season. While this list is far from complete, this is one of the most comprehensive list of the top players that are looking to make some serious noise in the football world. Wisconsin has been for a long time known as a school that produces some of the breakout stars of the NFL and the best is yet to come.

Wisconsin Badgers Football 2016 Season Predictions

The upcoming college football season is fast approaching and one of the teams that is looking to have a successful season is the Wisconsin Badgers. The team is coming off a season in which they finished with an overall record of 10-3. During the season they beat a number of decent teams en route to a 23-21 victory over the University of Southern California Trojans in the Holiday Bowl. Led by head coach Paul Chryst, the Badgers will be playing the perennial powerhouse LSU Tigers at Lambeau Field to start the season. In this matchup, the team will be playing against their former defensive coordinator.

In the upcoming season, the Badgers will have a rather challenging schedule. sees them having a significant drop-off.  They will face a number of contenting teams that will prove to be big test for them on a weekly basis. The Badgers will face some of the best college football teams in the country such as the Louisiana State Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines. They will also need to face teams such as the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. All of these matchups will be very important for Wisconsin as they will need to win a majority of these games in order to compete for a national title.  Which unless they enlist some of their all-time best players they aren’t going to do.

At the beginning of the season, the Badgers will face LSU, who are among the best college football teams in the nation. This will be a huge test for Wisconsin as they will have an opportunity to make a big statement right away. They are at home in this matchup so with the home crowd supporting them, they may be able to win this game and establish themselves as a team to beat during the season. The next couple of weeks will be quite easy for the Badgers as they will face off against the Georgia State Panthers and the Akron Zips. However, the schedule will get tougher as they will need to play back to back road games at Michigan State and Michigan respectively. Both of these teams are well coached and will be challenging matchups for Wisconsin. After the first five games of the season, Wisconsin will likely have an overall record of at least 3-2.

The second half of the season will be quite challenging as well. During this stretch, they will need to face off against Ohio State, Iowa, and Nebraska. All three of these teams are always tough to beat but the Badgers will likely win at least two out of these three matchups. In the final weeks of the season, they will face the Northwestern Wildcats, Illinois Fighting Illini, Purdue Boilermakers and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Wisconsin will likely win all of these matchups and finish with an overall regular season record of 9-3. This will allow them to participate in postseason play and get into one of the more significant bowl games at the end of the season.

After finishing the regular season is over, they will likely play in the Big Ten championship game and will win against Michigan. Therefore, they will be 10-3 with a berth in one of the major bowl games. In the Bowl game, Wisconsin will likely win that matchup and finish the season with an overall record of 11 wins and 3 losses. Therefore they will likely have a very good season and continue to establish themselves as a solid college football program.

While the Wisconsin Badgers will finish with an impressive record and have a successful season, it is unlikely that they will win the national championship. With a tough schedule against some very tough opponents, they will likely lose more than 2 games which usually prevent teams from winning a national championship. Since a team needs to either go undefeated or lose only one game all season, Wisconsin is not likely to meet this criterion during the season. However, the Badgers will likely finish in the top 10 teams in college football and remain as one of the finest teams in the nation. The Badgers should remain in the top 10 all season and have solid contributions from all of their players. As a result, the Wisconsin Badgers will be one of the most successful teams in college football during the 2016 season.
